Editorial policy

The Homerton People Microsite is committed to the highest editorial and ethical standards in the provision of information and guidance on all aspects of workforce development, education, and training. The Microsite is funded by Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; it does not carry advertising and does not accept corporate sponsorship.

Editorial Principles

  • Accuracy, Impartiality, and Accountability
The Homerton People Microsite ensures content is accurate, balanced, and transparent. Information provided is judged against the best available evidence, with sources named wherever possible. Where content contains conjecture or opinion, this will be clearly indicated. It remains impartial, presenting diverse perspectives where no professional or scientific consensus exists. Editorial processes are transparent, and the microsite is accountable to its audiences, welcoming feedback and correcting mistakes where necessary.

  • Suitability and Respect
All content is suitable for a general audience and avoids material that could reasonably be deemed offensive. The microsite upholds high standards of taste, decency, and professionalism in all published content.

  • Serving the Public and Representing Diverse Perspectives
The microsite serves the interests of its workforce and wider healthcare community. It consults relevant professional bodies, charities, and stakeholders while prioritising the needs of its audiences. When there is no clear professional or scientific consensus, the microsite presents a balanced representation of differing viewpoints and acknowledges uncertainty where necessary.

  • Privacy and Confidentiality
The Homerton People Microsite is committed to strict privacy controls. Personal information, including correspondence, will not be disclosed without explicit user consent unless legally required or deemed in the public interest. Permission will be sought before using any service user photographic images.

Editorial Standards

The Homerton People Microsite has a dedicated team responsible for ensuring content meets high editorial standards. No editor, author, or administrator will be asked or permitted to provide favoured treatment to any partner organisation. All editorial contributors must fully disclose any financial or other interests they may have in any related companies or organisations.

In accordance with Homerton Healthcare policies, all staff, including editorial contributors, are required to disclose any conflicts of interest with external organisations, including healthcare-related companies. Homerton Healthcare will investigate any potential conflicts of interest related to content on the Homerton People Microsite. Where content is produced by external organisations or individuals, the Homerton People Microsite requires them to make a similar disclosure of outside interests.

All editorial contributors receive training to ensure that content meets these editorial standards.
