Overview

Incivility has been identified by the 2019 Patient Safety Strategy as a foundation for safer care through a patient safety culture.

This course is delivered by Project Wingman and aims to give NHS staff at all levels and disciplines an introduction on how to be more civil and develop better relationships, which will be valuable not only for their workplace but also in their personal lives as well. It is fundamental to any human factors programme.  It is the preventative other half of ensuring Wellbeing. For Nurses, Midwives and AHP's

During the course you will:

  • Recognise what incivility is and the damage that it does to Patients and the NHS
  • Understand how you may have demonstrated incivility and why
  • Understand behaviour and why people choose a particular behaviour
  • Be able to manage difficult situations and people, and have influence
  • Be able to give and receive feedback effectively
  • Manage and read non-verbal communications appropriately
  • Understand how civility relates to diversity and cultural differences
